Residents concerned about a proposed solar facility south of Santa Fe claimed a victory this week: A nonprofit organized by residents will be able to argue in court for full release of public records about the project.
Global energy company AES Corp. had asked Santa Fe County in September to redact information from documents on its proposed Rancho Viejo Solar facility in response to a public records request. The company only redacted trade secrets, its leaders and attorneys wrote in filings in the state’s First Judicial District Court.
County attorneys said they would make the redactions if ordered to do so by a judge but remained “neutral” on whether the redacted information should be available to the public, Assistant County Attorney Roger Prucino said in a community meeting this month.
